All participants will predict their race time in advance.  The winner is determined by whose time is closest to their predicted time – No Watches allowed!

Galway Bay Sea Front May Day Health Walk

Sunday 5^th May 2013 , from  the Claddagh to Silver Strand return (4 miles each way).  All proceeds to Western Alzheimers and Cancer Care West.  In this year for the gathering why not put this date in your diary for a special family fun walk.  In aid of two local charities.  Official launch will take place in early April watch out for local press and radio adverts.  In the meantime feel free to contact any of our offices for more details.

Grandchildren of the late Grace Moran, formerly of Knock Road, Claremorris, recently completed a fundraising challenge in her memory, by climbing Croagh Patrick. The total proceeds raised amounting to €2,257.00 were recently presented to Western Alzheimers at Marian House in Ballindine. John Grant CEO Western Alzheimers thanked them sincerely for their generosity of spirit, and assured them that they were “Sharing the Care” in a very real and meaningful way with hundreds of carers and their loved ones throughout the West of Ireland. He also felt it was a very fitting tribute to their late granny, Grace, who was such a lovely lady, and who was so highly regarded in Claremorris for many years.

How about getting involved in Athenry AC’s Fit For Life Road Race. It’s happening this Sunday 11th November and proceeds are going towards Western Alzheimers.

What a brilliant day we all had our the Greenway Challenge from Westport to Newport with Mike Denver on Saturday 15th September.   Many thanks to everyone who took part and to Mike for being so generous with his time and supporting us.   Check out our photo gallery from the day itself….we’re already looking forward to next year!

Not long to go now to our CHALLENGE on the GREENWAY……and just look who’s joining us…..MIKE DENVER!!  We can’t wait!

BLUE SKIES on SUNDAY AUG 26th….at least that’s what we’re hoping for Breege O Grady’s 10K Fundraising Walk for Western Alzheimers in Edmondstown, Ballaghaderreen. Gathering at Mick McDermott’s Pub, The Ramling House at 2:30 and then getting underway at 3pm. Should be lots of fun and there’s music and entertainment afterwards with Sean Corrigan and John Geraghty. Thanks in advance to Breege and her friends for organising – we hope it’s a great day for everyone!!

The day couldn’t have been any wetter, but that didn’t diminish the spirit and enthusiasm of the many people who took part in the Clare Island Charity Walk on Saturday 23rd June. We are so grateful to everyone who braved the elements and to all who gave sponsorship. Despite the wind and rain there were lots of smiles all round and we hope you all enjoyed the day!
