Charity gets huge boost as Hollywood legend offers to host two fans - By Liam Horan

Fans of the iconic 1960s and ‘70s ‘western’ The Virginian have been given an incredible chance to spend ten days in Houston, Texas, with the star of the famous series – for just a tenner.
James Drury, who is now 75 years of age, has offered a leading west of Ireland charity the most novel prize they have ever received. “James visited Ireland last year, and got to know our work, and now he has contacted us to say two people can spend time with him over ten days, all expenses paid, in Texas,” explained Noel Higgins of Western Alzheimers.
Almost 300 episodes of The Virginian were made, and almost 40 years later, its appeal remains undimmed. “We are eternally grateful to The Virginian himself, and to Eamon Finnerty, as it has given us a huge fund-raising boost at a time when all charities are feeling the pinch. It’s amazing that he would offer to host two people for ten days,” added Mr Higgins.
The draw will take place in the Western Hotel Claremorris on Sat. June 20th
