Mayo Rose Selection | Fundraiser Caragh Ryan

The younger generation or millenials as they are categorised, tend to have a bad reputation for being self involved. Caragh Ryan from Westport is here to restore your faith in the youth of today!

Caragh is a qualified beautician and wanted to do a fundraising event that was a little different and where she could put her skills to good use and so organised a very fun waxathon in Westport which raised €3251!

The event saw a host of lads who getting legs, chest, eyebrows (amongst other areas) waxed on the night!  Well done to all the volunteers/victims – Phil Keegan, James Walsh, John Ryan, Chris Heanue, Craig Beirne, James Gillespie, Declan Ryan, John Reilly, Alan Cannon, Donal Fahy, Stephen King, Tommie Mortimer, Ryan Scott and Joe King.

Sean O’Reilly kindly volunteered to provide the music and act as an MC on the night (he was absolutely brilliant!)  Fiona McGrath & Shona Walsh who gave Caragh a hand with all the waxing (they really had their work cut out  for them.
Ciara Beirne, Aoife O Kelly, Lauren Beirne, Niamh Moylette and Craig Beirne for all their help on the night and keeping Caragh’s stress levels at bay in the lead up to the waxathon!

Mick & all the staff at The Clock Tavern. The following sponsors who provided raffle prizes for the night, Knockranny House Hotel, Mount Falcon, Mayo Glamping, Vanilla and The Broadhaven Hotel, Belmullet.

It was a wonderful to see the whole community get involved and make it such a successful and fun fundraiser.

In addition to this, we are honoured to have Caragh spreading awareness of the charity by representing Western Alzheimers in her entry to the Mayo Rose Selection taking place this Saturday April 28th in the Mc William Park Hotel Claremorris.

Caragh got in touch with us with her idea where rather than being sponsored by a local business, she instead would seek sponsorship from her family and friends and instead would like to use it as an opportunity to raise funds Western Azheimers. The charity is close to her heart as her Grandmother has been suffering from Alzheimer’s for nine years now.

Caragh Ryan is a very worthy contender -proactive, selfless, hard-working, humble and fun. We would like to take this opportunity to wish Caragh the very best of luck from all of us here at Western Alzheimers.

Go n-éiri an t-ádh leat!
