Forty people took part in the second annual Peak of the Reek challenge on the 14th June in aid of Western Alzheimers which is the largest provider of dementia services in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon. The challenge which involved climbing Croagh Patrick raised €66,823 and was again kindly sponsored by Portwest.
The funds raised will be utilised in the provision of services to ensure that persons living with dementia can enjoy a meaningful life as an active member of the community for as long as possible. “Peak of the Reek is now one of our top fundraising events of the year raising €66,823 helping to expand our services and ultimately enables us continue our mission to provide carers with a break from caring” Deirdre Walsh, Fundraising Manager.

There are 6,000 people living with dementia in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon which is caused by diseases of the brain and can happen to anyone.
