The challenge involves business and community representatives, in the West coming together on Oct 9th to climb Croagh Patrick in order to highlight the challenges facing those living with dementia & to raise much need funds for service provision.
There are currently 55,000 people living with dementia in Ireland and 10% of those are in areas of Galway, Mayo and Roscommon. These figures are set to treble by 2040. The majority of services provided by Western Alzheimers are free or at a significantly reduced fee making them accessible to everybody irrelevant of their circumstances. Funds raised from this challenge will go towards expansion of Western Alzheimers range of services in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.
Participants who complete the challenge, by climbing Croagh Patrick and raising the target of €2,000. Proceeds from this event are more vital than ever as Western Alzheimers have had to cancel/postpone all events during lockdown which is having an adverse effect on our fundraising.
