currently have a vacancy for a full time Health Care Assistant

The successful applicant will work as part of the Care Team under the supervision of the Nurse in Charge. Healthcare Assistants are well supported in this team with clear policies and guidelines pertaining to their role. Ongoing training will be provided.

Duties and responsibilities will include: Support and assist residents enabling them to fulfil their activities of daily living ensuring that residents are encouraged to be as independent as possible.  Deliver a high standard of person-centred care ensuring all practices reflects the privacy, dignity and respect of our residents and underpins all the basic values that contribute to an excellent quality of life.  Participate in organising and carrying out in-house activities.

Knowledge Required:  Candidates must have a certificate in or be currently studying for QQI Level 5 award or equivalent which should include Care Skills and Care of the Older Person modules.

GALWAY

Maryfield Nursing Home, Athenry, Co. Galway

ROLE- Clinical Nurse Manager 1

Overview of Role;

To promote and maintain the highest attainable standard of clinical and nursing care within Maryfield Nursing Home.

The successful candidate for post of Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (CNM1) will report to the Director of Nursing and will be responsible for providing clinical leadership, managing the day to day clinical practices in the home, delegation and supervision, performance and development, clinical governance and assessment of risks.

The CNM 1 will work collaboratively with the DON providing clear communication and direction and deputising for the DON as required.

Duties & Responsibilities;

The CNM1 is a role model to the staff who provide person centred care to our residents:

  • To ensure the delivery of the highest standards of nursing and social care which meet the individual needs of each resident
  • Ensuring that the home policies and expected clinical standards are read, understood, and practiced at all times
  • To support the nurses and provide direction, mentorship, and guidance in terms of their role
  • To ensure appropriate training, education, development and induction are delivered to all nursing home staff
  • Review and audit nursing documentation to ensure accuracy in accordance with legislation
  • Participate in handover and help troubleshoot any ongoing clinical issues and non-clinical issues, escalating to the Director of Nursing as appropriate.
  • Ensuring medication practices are carried out according with NMBI Guidelines.
  • Undertaking regular audits in the nursing home and ensuring effective feedback and action plans are undertaken and reviewed.
  • Establish a team dynamic in the home and ensure that the team works cohesively in planning, implementing and reviewing improvements to care and practice.
  • Effective communication with residents, staff, multidisciplinary team, relatives, and families.
  • Ensures that complaints are appropriately documented and followed up as required.
  • The CNM will engage in supervision of staff to ensure compliance with clinical standards, demonstration of strong communication with residents and general working practices
  • Implement policies to safeguard the safety and welfare of staff, residents and other

Skills, Attributes, Qualifications;

  • Registered on the Irish live register (NMBI) with active PIN.
  • Excellent Leadership, Organisational and Communication skills
  • Must have minimum 1 years’ experience as a CNM
  • Sound decision making ability
  • Ability to motivate self and others and work on own initiative
  • Ability to work well and promote a team environment
  • Results driven
